MARC format
To view the MARC record, select the MARC Record button on the Headings
screen. MARC (MAchine Readable Cataloging) is a format used by librarians
to enter information about materials which will be read by an online catalog.
Information, such as title or author, is stored in a field or numbered
tag which is then read and translated by the catalog.
To view more items associated with the title you have selected, click
the Previous or Next buttons.
Please refer to the Save Options section to learn about how to
save information about the current items displayed on your screen.
To save, print, or email information about specific items from the Titles
screen:
- If you do not wish to select all titles on the Titles screen, check
the box in the left-most column next to the item(s) you want to save,
print, or email.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Save Options box.
- Choose which items you would like to save, print, or email.
- Choose "All on page" if you would like to save all of
the records displayed on the current Titles screen.
- Choose "Selected on page" if you only wish to save the
items you had selected previously on the current Titles screen (refer
to #1).
- Choose "Selected all pages" if you wish to save the items
you had selected on the current and previous Titles screens.
- If you choose to save or print the items, select the format in which
you would like to save your records from the drop-down list (the MARC
format is one of these).
- If you choose to email saved items, enter your email address and choose
the Email button.
To save, print, or email information about the item you are currently
viewing on the Headings screen:
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Save Options [is this what
we called it?] box.
- If you choose to save or print the items, select the format in which
you would like your items to appear from the drop-down list (the MARC
format is one of these).
- If you choose to email saved items, enter your email address and
choose the Email button.
